It will still look hazy usually, but it should be obvious when you are ready to go to the fine polish. Use a lot of elbow grease and polish in a circular motion until you can see the 2000 grit marks are gone. I know most don't have that, so go to 2000ĥ. I only went to 1000 grit, because I use the big buffer pictured below (also why I didn't bother taping my area). keep doing this till you are done with the 2000 grit. If you are going horizontal and you see no more scratches going vertical from the previous grit, you are ready to move to the next finer grit. This is why you go only one direction and alternate. Wipe often to see if you are removing the fine scratches from the previous grits. Also, get fresh water or oil with each transition to another grit.
